Blog 1 Ray and McDonald(revised)

In my summary i will give you a brief summarization of how McDonalds came to be and where Walt Disney influenced much of Ray Krocs choices through making McDonalds a well-known and very established fast food branch as well as the brand essence of his marketing techniques. Eric Schlosser author of fast food nation began his research to show people the truth of where is food comes from. In these chapters he shows us a brief history of two fellow conglomerates Walt Disney responsible for Mickey Mouse a beloved cartoon icon as well as Ray Kroc responsible for founding and franchising the well-known fast food establishment McDonalds.

A perspective of the fast food industry, we see them so much we grow an appetite without ever acquiring a taste, whether driving walking or on the trains, advertisements are everywhere and almost inescapable. Among other cultural innovations Walt Disney made a clever marketing strategy in which he signed licensing rights for shirts accessories toys games with dozens of firms letting them use Disney’s characters in ads as well. He also used a tactic called "synergy" which inhibited emotional production. Ray Kroc's franchise came to a development when he came to realize that "promoting McDonalds to children was a clever, pragmatic decision" He then started to develop the character we now know as Ronald McDonald (Shlosser 34). As that image was certain to attract kid customers the restaurant chain evoked a scene of pleasing images in a young person’s mind: bright colors a jungle gym playground toys with happy meals and a clown mascot to complete the image.
